Pomeranian Mixed Breeds
One of the latest and greatest things in dog breeding today is the mixed breed. When talking about mixed breeds it doesn’t mean mutts or just neighborhood accidents, it refers to the mixing of two purebred dogs to make breed that hopefully possesses the best qualities from both breeds. Many different pure breeds have been mixed with the Pomeranian to make new designer mixed breeds. These mixes seem to only be done with the very small, such as toy or miniature, breeds as this is the type of dog that is in great demand by celebrities. Pomeranians seem to be one of the most popular because of their intelligence and size.
A good example of this is the Pomapoo, a mix of a Pomeranian and a Poodle. The thought is to get the great beauty of the Pomeranian with the kid friendliness of the Poodle. Both toy and miniature sized Poodles have been used for this purpose.
When you are looking for Pomeranian mixed breeds, you have to be sure that you are looking at several things when it comes to choosing which dogs you want to use. The first thing that you have to keep in mind is that you want to pick a dog that is roughly the same size as your Pomeranian. It can actually be dangerous to use a dog that is too much bigger.
A dog that is too big for your Pomeranian might actually hurt it, so you have to be sure that you are choosing dogs that are the right size. The dog that is most often used as Pomeranian mixed breeds is a Pug. This is because the Pug is the right shape and size for the Pomeranian.
There are many popular purebreds used when mixing a Pomeranian, such as a Shih Tzu, which results in the Shih Pom. When a Brussels Griffon is mixed with a Pomeranian you get the Brusselranian. And mixing the Chihuahua with a Pomeranian gets you a Pomchi.
There are several things that you will notice about the Pomeranian mixed breeds. For the most part, the size and shape of the Pomeranians mix is going to remain the same. This is because these are traits that are often carried down, as these characteristics are more dominant in the Pomeranian than most other small breeds.
Often the colors of the Pomeranian mixed breeds are about the same as the Pomeranian. The one thing that usually changes when you mix the Pomeranian is the structure of the dog’s face. The dog’s face usually resembles whatever the Pomeranian has been mixed with. There are still many chances that are taken when attempting a mixed breeding.
Because these dogs are not purebreds they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club and are not allowed to compete in club sanctioned dog shows. But these new mixed breeds, commonly known as hybrids, can be recognized by the American Canine Hybrid club if bred correctly.
